Now that our Callaway staffers are back in action, the Big Bertha Alpha 815 and Big Bertha Alpha 815 Double Black Diamond Drivers can get back to tearing it up on Tour. These two new drivers were a hit with the world’s best players from the moment they were introduced, and the momentum grew rapidly as more and more players put them in play each week.
The holiday break was the only thing that could slow these drivers down – just look at everything they did in a few short weeks. It makes us wonder what these drivers will do in 2015.
Players Who Are Already Using Them
In just a few short weeks, the Big Bertha Alpha 815 and Big Bertha Alpha 815 Double Black Diamond built up an impressive list of players who used it on Tour. In fact, when we introduced them at the Sanderson Farms Championship, we had 13 Callaway staffers in the field and 7 of these drivers went into play that week. That’s pretty impressive.
The list of current users already includes:
Big Bertha Alpha 815 users:
Andres Gonzales, Danny Lee, Matteo Manassero, Jonathan Randolph, Sam Saunders and Brian Stuard
Big Bertha Alpha 815 Double Black Diamond:
Gary Woodland, Patrick Reed, Chris Kirk and Branden Grace
Those conversions all happened right as the Tour was winding down for the break. As the 2015 schedule moves into full swing, those numbers will jump drastically higher.
Already Reed (Hyundai Tournament of Champions) and Grace (Alfred Dunhill Links Championship) have earned big Tour wins with their new drivers.
What The Pros Are Saying
Our Callaway Tour Rep, Mike Sposa has been there every week working with players on these drivers. And the feedback he has gotten from players has been awesome. Here are a few of our favorite notes from Mike.
On the initial reactions to Alpha 815: “The first response I get is how good the driver sounds. They like the sound, they like the look of it, and the face angle is wonderful. And we’re seeing faster ball speeds as high as 3 ½ miles per hour…And with those 3 ½ miles per hour in some cases you’re talking about 10-12 more yards. That’s pretty significant.”
On the setup for Tour players: “It’s an ideal situation for them. They want to hit it high and they want to get the spin down without going too low so they can control it. And that’s what we’ve been seeing when they’ve hit the Alpha 815.”
The takeaway from fitting players for Alpha 815: “It has a great look, great feel and sound. Players have been seeing higher launch with lower spin, tighter spin, and more ball speed and carry distance.”
Mike recently joined us on the Callaway Tour Talk podcast to tell us about all the things the Pros are saying about Alpha 815.
