With the help of our partners at Birdies For The Brave, we were given another opportunity to fit combat-injured warriors with a custom set of Callaway clubs on-site this week at The Barclays as part of the Callaway Warrior Club Fitting program.
Army Corporal Kevin McCloskey and Master Sergeant John Cruz (both Purple Heart recipients) were taken on a personal tour of the Callaway Tour Truck before heading out to the range at Plainfield CC for a full bag custom fitting with our reps. Callaway PGA TOUR Pro Andres Gonzales even stopped by to thank these heroes for their service and offer a few swing tips.
The Callaway Warrior Club Fitting at The Barclays was the 13th of 15 events scheduled to take place during PGA TOUR tournaments this year.
Army Corporal Kevin McCloskey, who lost both of his legs when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, spends time helping other veterans and amputees learn and relearn golf through the Eastern Amputee Golf Association’s First Swing clinics.
Callaway has conducted nearly 100 Callaway Warrior Club Fittings at PGA TOUR events since 2012. (The 100th will be at the TOUR Championship at East Lake in September.)
HUGE thank you to John and Kevin for giving us the opportunity to give back and express gratitude for their services.
Here’s a look at the TV segments that aired on CBS the weekend of The Barclays to recognize these two brave heroes:
