Henrik Stenson Wins Epic Open Championship With Historic Performance

We’ll remember Henrik Stenson’s legendary, record-setting performance at Royal Troon for as long as championship golf is played. And we’ll also remember how he and Phil Mickelson gave us one of the greatest duels of all-time.

The highlights that these two champions gave us over the course of four unforgettable rounds were extraordinary. Here were just a few of the best:

– Stenson carded a final-round 63 to tie the lowest round in major championship history (his round included 10 birdies). This came after Mickelson shot a 63 of his own on Thursday.

– At 20-under, Henrik tied the lowest score relative to par in major championship history, and set the lowest cumulative score ever in a major championship (264).

– They were 11 full shots clear of the next nearest competitor. (WHAT!)

Both men should be applauded for their amazing performances. And here now are the Callaway clubs that Henrik used to capture the Claret Jug:

XR 16 Driver (9°), Diablo Octane Tour Fairway Wood (13°), Callaway Legacy Black Irons (2-PW), MD3 Milled Wedges (52°, 58°), and an Odyssey White Hot XG #7H Putter.

This is ALREADY the 3rd major win for our XR 16 family, after Danny Willett used his to win at Augusta, and Lydia Ko played an XR 16 Pro in her win at the ANA Inspiration.

He first put the XR 16 Driver in play back in January, and he used it to win the BMW International Open last month. When he first tested it on Trackman monitors, he found that the ball speed was much faster and the spin dispersion was much tighter for him than his previous gamer.

And that held true this week, as he has hit huge tee shots that have consistently found the fairway. His driver has a 45″ shaft and according to Callaway Tour Reps, it has a shade of fade bias in the head and is set to the Standard loft adjustability.

His White Hot XG #7H Putter is cut to 34 1/4″ with 3.25* of loft, and a double bend fluted shaft with full shaft offset. It’s been his gamer putter on Tour, and he used it to roll in the biggest putts of his career on Sunday. This is already the 6th major championship victory this year for Odyssey across the major US Tours, the most by any putter company this year.

What a championship. What a tournament. Congratulations to Phil on another incredible showing. And congratulations to Henrik, the Champion Golfer of the Year!
