FT Optiforce Our #1 Driver For 4th Straight Week

It’s been four weeks since FT Optiforce was introduced on Tour and so far it’s 4-for-4 as our #1 Driver at PGA Tour events. The newest chapter came last week at the RBC Canadian Open as Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Patrick Reed and Jim Furyk all put themselves in the tournament mix with our new driver.

Furyk moved into a 440cc model that features 9.5° of loft, a Fukikura Speeder VC 6.2x shaft that’s tipped 1”, and a finished length of 44 ½”. He went out and posted a T9 finish in his first start with the driver and split one fairway after the next, which seems to be an old habit for him.

Meanwhile, Ernie played a 9.5°, 440cc model as well and whatever our Tour Reps did to get his driver tuned in, they certainly hit all the right notes. The Big Easy averaged 301.1 yards for the week, a number that’s 13.3 yards longer than his season average on the PGA Tour.

He’s not our first player to see these types of immediate distance gains – heck, at the John Deere Classic, Patrick Reed’s driving distance with FT Optiforce was 28.7 yards longer than his season average to that point!

Speaking of Reed, the new Callaway staffer got plenty more TV time over the weekend as he finished T9 for yet another top-10. The FT Optiforce user has now posted three top-10 finishes in his last six starts and has now earned back-to-back top-10s since he put the new driver in his bag. Watch out for him the rest of the year.

Odyssey Wins RBC Canadian Open

The #1 Putter in Golf rode another dominating putting performance to a convincing win at the RBC Canadian Open. A White Hot Rossie rolled to the win in Canada just one week after Phil Mickelson closed out a historic major championship victory with a Versa #9 White gamer.

As it stands now Odyssey leads all putter brands with 44 wins across the six major worldwide Tours this year. We’ve led the putter counts at all three PGA Tour majors this year, won all three LPGA Tour majors so far this season and have seen Versa and Tank go into play all over the world. You can read more about Odyssey’s Tour domination on their Tour home page.

Hadwin Adds Canadian Flavor To RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver

Adam Hadwin paid tribute to his native Canada on the custom RAZR Fit Xtreme Driver he put in play at the RBC Canadian Open. The driver had a red crown, red sole accents and a white maple leaf as an alignment feature. We heard he was ecstatic about the club and he even went so far as to tease it on Twitter the previous weekend, and then revealed it during the practice days. We’re glad you liked it, Adam!

Club Performance Analyst Talks Phil’s X Hot 3Deep

Our head of PR, aka Scotty G, worked his magic last week to get Callaway Club Performance Analyst Gerrit Pon on the X Hot hotline to talk about the X Hot 3Deep Phil Mickelson relied on to win his fifth major. Gerrit is responsible for building Lefty’s clubs out at the Ely Callaway Performance Center, and you can hear all his insights on the X Hot 3Deep in our new Callaway Tech Talk.

Bones Stops By For A Tip On Clutch Putting

Picture this scenario for a second: It’s last Monday, we’re all riding on adrenaline from Phil’s win and all of a sudden Bones just strolls into the marketing department. Hey Bones, how was your weekend? Do anything fun?

He was still on cloud nine from what he and Phil had just done the day before, and after recording a podcast with Harry, talking to all of us at HQ and just being a fun guy to be around, Bones was nice enough to give us a few key tips to clutch putting that he and Phil use on Tour. It’s all there for you in our latest edition of Callaway Office Tips! Thanks Bones, and congratulations on the big win!

Just purchased a set of the X Hot Pro’s (5-pw). Shot an even par 72 the first time I played with them. My lowest round of the year! I’m 59 and a 7 handicap. Very solid irons and long! At least a club longer than the X14 Pro Series I’ve been playing years. Thank you!
