Bjorn Fires Sunday 65 To Win Nedbank Golf Challenge

Thomas Bjorn was absolutely brilliant in a final round 65 as he blew by some of the world’s best players on the way to one of the best wins of his career at the star-studded Nedbank Golf Challenge. Playing a full bag of Callaway equipment, Bjorn made two clutch eagles over the final nine holes as he took command of the tournament and earned his 15th career European Tour victory.

His winning bag included an X Hot 3-wood, HEX Black Tour Golf Ball, and an Odyssey Tank #7 Putter. He shot 67-70-66-65 to finish at 20-under, good enough for a two-shot win, and as you might expect his stats were off the charts impressive. Bjorn ranked fifth for the week in driving accuracy, fourth in distance (312.3 yards per drive), first in GIR (77.8%) and fourth in putts per round.

Trailing by three shots as he entered the final round, Bjorn went out in 33, and then turned it up with an eagle on 10, another eagle on the 14th, and a birdie at 15. In his victory press conference, the Callaway staffer said, “This is right up there with the best days of my career…I am very proud of the way I played today.”

With his win, Bjorn moved up to #1 in the current Race to Dubai standings. Yes, as in the top spot, the guy everyone else is chasing. His early success comes as no surprise after he finished 10th in the final standings last season, highlighted by his victory at the 2013 Omega European Masters. It’s been an incredible run from a man who will go down as one of the most prolific players in European Tour history.

Congratulations to Thomas on an awesome victory!
