You can say that Callaway reached for the stars this year in Golf Digest’s annual Hot List issue, but we’d rather not use extremely corny metaphors.
Instead, we’re going to give it to you straight: Callaway earned a load of accolades in this year’s Hot List. Not only did Callaway take home 18 gold medals (more than any other equipment manufacturer), but the new XR/XR Pro Fairway Woods were the only clubs in their category to earn 5 STARS for performance.
Additionally, XR earned 5 stars for look/sound/feel, 4.5 for demand and 4.5 for innovation. Their 19 stars (out of a possible 20) were the most of any fairway wood.
Here’s what some of the Hot List testers said about XR…
Low-Handicapper: “Easy to launch, even the 14-degree version.”
Mid-Handicapper: “This has got a black Chevy Suburban, mean street look to it that it backs up. I could hit fairway wood shots all day with this.”
Low-Handicapper: “For a 14 degree fairway, it’s amazing how easy this is to hit. This is just a fun club. Near perfect sound and feel. Good swingweight, good feel throughout your swing.”
High-Handicapper: “It produces a woody, powerful thump.”
