Jim Furyk (Great Big Bertha) & Phil Mickelson (Alpha 816) Playing New Callaway Drivers

Here’s some great Callaway Tour news for you: this week Jim Furyk is playing a new Great Big Bertha Driver and Phil Mickelson is in the new Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver at Firestone. Boom!

More Players Move Into Great Big Bertha At Firestone

Furyk, Matt Every and Thomas Bjorn are among the players who are using Great Big Bertha this week at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Jim’s new gamer has a 9* head, a Neutral directional bias with a Standard loft adjustability, and the adjustable perimeter weighting slide is set very close to the neutral setting.

“The feedback that I got from Jim was that he really liked the look and his start lines on his shots were much better with his new driver,” Callaway Tour Rep, Kellen Watson said.

“He was really pleased with the ball flight and how easy the shot-making was with Great Big Bertha. His draws were consistent, his fades were consistent, he had a great ball flight, and he was hitting a lot of fairways.” Furyk averaged 311.4 yards per drive in the first round on Thursday with his new gamer.

Every’s new Great Big Bertha has an 8.5* head, set to a Neutral directional bias and a -1 Loft adjustability, and the weight slide is set to the most fade bias possible. “Matt said that the pop off the face was excellent and he had gained 10 yards with this head and shaft setup,” Watson told us. “After walking a few holes with him on Tuesday, I could tell that the dispersion was very tight, even on the shots he thought he had missed slightly.”

The Great Big Bertha has been off to a strong start on Tour after debuting last week, when Pat Perez was among the players who immediately put in the bag and Kiradech Aphibarnrat won with in Europe.

Phil’s New Alpha 816

Our guy Phil Mickelson is in a new Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver that has an 8.5* head. Our Tour Reps have said that he particularly likes the low spin he gets off his new driver, how easy it is to shape the ball, and that his mis-hits fly straighter. Phil joins a list of players including Harris English and Colt Knost who already have the driver in the bag.
