It’s U.S. Open week and all eyes are focused directly on Shinnecock for our National Championship. It’s Father’s Day weekend, summer time is here, and the world’s best players are competing at a legendary venue. What more could you ask for?! Now, before you sink into the couch to watch all the action, here are the 6 things you need to know.
How Many Staffers Do We Have In The Field?
21! Our team is loaded with pre-tournament favorites like Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and Henrik Stenson, strong contenders like Xander Schauffele, Alex Noren, and Kevin Kisner, and a great group of young guns.
Who Should I Be Rooting For?
Phil! To be clear, you should always root for Phil, but this week is on a different level. If Lefty wins, he will have his first U.S. Open title AND he’ll be just the 6th player ever to complete the grand slam. He’s one of the greatest players of all-time, and a victory here will put him in golf’s most exclusive club.
What Other Callaway Stories Should I Be Following?
You should get to know our young guns Sam Burns and Aaron Wise. They’re both just 21, they both made it through sectional qualifying (Burns was medalist in his qualifier with a scorching 62-66 performance, and Wise birdied his last hole and then birdied the first playoff hole to get in), and they’re both having great seasons. Sam has won on the Web.com and contended on the PGA Tour, and Aaron got his first Tour win just a few weeks ago at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
What Else Should I Keep An Eye Out For?
As you saw in the tweet above, our staffers are hitting our new Chrome Soft Truvis Stars & Stripes golf balls on the range. These balls have been incredibly popular so far with their USA color patterns of stars and stripes featured on the ball. And Sergio Garcia is in a new Odyssey EXO Rossie Putter.
Are You Making Bags Or Coins?
Yes, and they might be our best ones yet. They look great and the patriotic red, white, and blue design is perfect for the U.S. Open. Get yours now before they run out quickly.
What Can You Tell Me About The Course?
It’s in amazing shape and it’s going to provide a great test for everyone this week. Expect a lot of aerial shots of the course and the surrounding area in the Hamptons and New York City. And if we know anything about crowds in New York, it’s going to be LOUD. We can’t wait!
