In what could be a historic week at the U.S. Open, Phil Mickelson enters his 27th US Open in search of completing the career grand slam. A win at Shinnecock Hills would be his first win at our National Championship and would further establish him as one of golf's all-time greats. If he pulls it off, he'll be just the 6th grand slam winner ever. Here's a look at the clubs that he'll use at Shinnecock.
Tournament: U.S. Open
Rogue Sub Zero
Phil has used the Rogue Sub Zero throughout 2018, and he specifically likes the high ball speeds that he gets with Jailbreak Technology and the workability that he can get to play different ball flights off the tee.
Phil has a unique iron set up, because he’s the ultimate tinkerer. He plays an X-Forged UT 3-iron and an Epic Pro 4-iron, and X-Forged 18 in his mid-irons. The UT is a great option off the tee for tight landing areas, the Epic Pro 4-iron can be used on long Par-3s, and with X-Forged he likes the turf interaction and precision in his mid-irons.
Phil worked with Callaway Chief Designer and legendary wedge maker Roger Cleveland on the Mack Daddy PM Grind Wedges. The “PM” is based off his initials and he carrys a 56*, 60* and 64*. He’ll rely heavily on his short game this week.
