Three days removed from his 25th birthday, Xander Schauffele birdied his final two holes to tie the leader, then followed that up with a birdie on the first playoff hole to close out his third professional win. Xander's performance on the putting green this week propelled him to finish fourth in the field in putts per green in regulation and third in birdies. Take a look at the Callaway equipment he used to earn his WGC-HSBC Champions victory.
Tournament: WGC-HSBC Champions
Xander made one equipment change to his bag this week, putting in a Rogue Sub Zero Fairway Wood (18º) and taking out an Epic Pro 3-iron. Rogue continues to be the #1 selling fairway wood model in the U.S. this year (per Golf Datatech) and its the first fairway wood to feature our innovative Jailbreak Technology for more ball speed across the face.
Xander has been playing a set of Callaway Forged Prototype Irons (4-PW).
Chrome Soft X
Xander joined Callaway as staff pro at the beginning of 2018, and he said that one of the main reasons he came to Callaway was to play the Chrome Soft X Golf Ball. Xander particularly likes the feel of the golf ball and in testing he especially liked the performance and feel of the ball on pitch shots and iron shots. Chrome Soft X has now won three weeks in a row with Marc Leishman, Sergio Garcia, and now Xander.
Xander’s creativity and finesse around the greens helped him finish at the top of the field in scrambling. He plays an 52º S-grind wedge and enjoys the added spin that the Groove in Groove Technology provides.
Xander loves how easy it is to align the #7 head shape on his O-Works Red. It gives him the confidence to find the right line and setup in addition to making a consistent stroke. He also particularly likes the distance control that he gets with his new gamer. Xander’s putter features our innovative Microhinge Insert, a SuperStroke Pistol Grip, and it’s 34 ½” long.
