As part of Callaway Customs, we’re giving golfers an additional option called Tour Limited.
Every month, our expert wedge craftsman Anthony Taranto will design and produce a set of three unique wedges that will be available for purchase with proceeds going to charity. To give everyone a fair shot, we’re blind auctioning them away.
This month’s wedges were specially designed by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute patient and 3-time cancer survivor, Tara. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 16, Tara has been a force to be reckoned with throughout her cancer journey. Now 26 years old and thriving, she choose a design that would be inspirational for others facing tough times. Proceeds from this auction will support the world-class cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that saved Tara’s life.
“When I was first diagnosed, a lot of people said to me, ‘But you’re so young, kids don’t get cancer!’ I used the yellow ribbon to raise awareness for all childhood cancers.” Tara explained. “I have the words ‘Be Brave’ tattooed on my wrist, so I’ll never forget how far I’ve come. And ‘Be the Storm’ came from a quote I posted when I was diagnosed the last time: ‘The devil whispered in my ear: You are not strong enough to withstand the storm. Today, I whispered in the Devil’s ear, I AM the storm’. This quote spoke to me because when you’re sick, especially as a kid, you don’t feel powerful. You feel like your life is out of your hands. And as a kid who’s fighting for your life, you ARE pretty dang powerful.”
In an effort to give back to other patients going through a difficult cancer diagnosis, Tara and her family have run a golf tournament, through Jimmy Fund Golf*, the nation’s oldest and largest charity golf program, which Callaway has proudly partnered with for over 25 years.
*The Jimmy Fund is the charitable arm of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the world’s most renowned cancer research and treatment centers. Located in Boston, MA, they treat both adults and children with cancer from across the country and all over the world.
