Winner’s Bag: Molinari Takes Home Arnold Palmer Invitational
The 36-year-old Italian won in his first start as a member of the Callaway Tour Staff.
Tournament: Arnold Palmer Invitational
How do the Italians say it again? Oh yeah…Presto!
Playing in his first start as an official member of the Callaway Tour Staff, 2018 Open Champion Francesco Molinari captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational in stunning fashion, turning in a sensational 8-under 64 in the final round for a two-shot victory.
“My first week as a Callaway player, so happy to see that the switch I made wasn’t as crazy as some people thought,” he said after his round. “I know the clubs are good for me and I showed it this week.”
Molinari started the final round four shots back but rode an absolute red hot putter to his third PGA TOUR victory. Using his Odyssey Toulon Madison putter (with Stroke Lab) and Chrome Soft X ball, Molinari rolled in 146 feet of putts, including that dramatic bender on the 72nd hole. “Today was probably the best putting round of my career,” he said in his post-round interview.

Earlier in the week, Francesco told the Callaway Community, “The Stroke Lab Shaft has been really great for me. It’s really stable throughout the putting stroke and that’s helped me a lot. I’ve worked with Phil Kenyon (Odyssey Staff Pro and renowned Tour putting coach) and it’s something that I really like a lot. You can feel the difference when you putt with it and it makes it easy to get the putter into the positions that you want in the stroke. And after the round on Sunday, Kenyon added a retweet with the message, “If you want to win, you’ve got to make putts.”
Molinari’s driving wasn’t too shabby either; he hit 85 percent of his fairways on the week using his Epic Flash Sub Zero driver.
